HAPPY NEW DECADE !!!!
COMBINED ARTFORM CELEBRATES 11 YEARS
Having its start at a barber shop, performing at cafes and at a church, Combined Artform can now count as its successes four theaters in two cities and hundreds of shows over the past eleven years.
It really has been a wonderful experience and we are thankful for the venues, the shows and most of all the people who helped make it all happen. With all the ups and downs, it has always been a pleasure to work with such great producers, companies, artists and audience.
In just two years in LA, Combined Artform has already developed exceptional partners at Theatre Asylum ranging from co-productions such as "Common Air", a solo show which won an LA Ovation Award, to Impro Theatre which was picked as Best Theatre of 2009 by LA Weekly and with whom we've co-produced productions of Tennessee Williams, Jane Austen and currently Shakespeare Unscripted.
Tilted Frame continues to develop with new directors, performers and formats which include "Who Wrote This Sh!t", and our live internet show performed simultaneously between Los Angeles and San Francisco, "T.F.N." They will also be opening the new Asylum Lab (40 seat) in January 2010.
Since 2007, when Patrick Bristow starred in Combined Artform's Tuna Christmas with Mindy Sterling, he has been developing his company Improvatorium at Theater Asylum. Improvatorium features classes by Patrick and others such as Brian Clark, Ted Michaels and Heather Morgan and performances such as, "Death, Lies and Alibis" and in February of 2010 "Zombience" an improvised musical". They begin 2010 with their Short Form show, followed by the Asylum Improv Jam. We are so excited to be working with Patrick on all of his endeavors.
We're also looking forward to working more with David Razowsky and his long-form mastery in 2010. In addition, Lawrin Salazar's Los Angeles Comedy Festival is still spotlighting away at Theater Asylum and we're excited to be part of their success.
In addition, we are very grateful to David Fofi and the Elephant Theatre for having built these beautiful spaces and for their continued help and support along the way. We are also grateful to Mark Carson for helping Theater Asylum run smoothly.
Meanwhile in San Francisco, it has been a true pleasure during the past two years to work with and produce theatre with Rob Ready and Dan Williams and all the members of PianoFight. Since 2007, they have managed the Off Market Theaters and have grown PianoFight into a successful theatre company. In 2010, we're excited about our developing partnership with PianoFight at Off-Market Theaters and look forward to furthering the SF-LA connection with them.
Tilted Frame-SF keeps pushing the envelope with T.F.N - w/ Los Angeles as well as new in 2010 the Techno Improv Jam our local show followed by a open Jam.
We also continue to enjoy being a part of San Francisco's holiday tradition with David Sedaris' The Santaland Diaries. Wrapping up its eighth year with John Michael Beck and David Sinaiko. It was once again a crowd and critic pleasing show and we look forward to doing it again next year.
But it's January 2010 so for now we have:
- T.F.N. - Tilted Frame Network in San Francisco & Los Angeles. Yes, it's one show simultaneously performed in two cities.
- Techno Improv Jam - Jam with Tilted Frame - San Francisco. Come play with our tech.
- Impro Theatre's - Shakespeare Unscripted - Los Angeles
- Asylum Improv Jam- with Improvatorium - Los Angeles
A short form version of our long form tradition.
and that's just the beginning.
Please take a look around the site, sign our guest-book and come back for more.
If you've ever worked with us please check the Artists and Production page to see if we have your information; notes it is still in progress. We can add emails and will be adding more pictures later, so if you have any you would like us to put up, please send them to info@combinedartform.com.
Once again, thank you for an awesome 11 years; we look forward to continuing our adventure with you in the new decade.
Best,
Matthew Quinn
